Life Behind The Writers; How power couple Alice Wasatini and Jenny Jolowski made it in a Conservativ

"We're now the happiest we've ever been," Jenny states while beaming, sitting next to Alice, her lesbian life partner, soon to be married.

Before writing for a startup news corporation, Alice Wasting and Jenny Jolowski were trying to be taken seriously in the political world as a conservative, gay couple.

"It's been hard, but working together and sticking to one another was really key," Alice advises.

"I agree," her life partner Jenny adds. "You know we've both gotten so far, and we've both had to overcome many obstacles. To just be where I am today is so spectacular. I couldn't be more thankful."

Jenny and Alice began their journey together in 2006, and have been together since.

"There isn't anyone else I would rather be with," responds Alice when asked about her life partner.

"You know at first it was hard to be taken seriously when we first came out, but people have progressed so much and it's gotten much easier," Alice claims, regarding her colleagues reaction to her and Jenny as a couple.

"I just want it to be known that you can be conservative and also be part of the LGBTQ. It's not just about defeating the homophobic stereotypes, but also about defeating the stereotype that all conservatives oppose the LGBTQ. It's just not true," Jenny recaps.

They are both proud to be gay, and proud to be conservative. The couple plans to continue making history, and hope to set an example for other gays who are conservatives.

"Don't be afraid of admitting you're conservative. A lot of people think there's some rule that if you're gay you have to be liberal, or if you're a person of color you have to be liberal, but me and Jenny both know that's not true," summarizes Alice.
